Solar Eclipse:  when the moon passes between the sun and earth. Darkness occurs for a very few minutes as the moon is blocking the sun's light from the earth.
Fact:  The last time a total eclipse occurred in the Dallas area was 1878

Safety First

  • It is important to keep glasses on until the point of totality (1:41 - 1:44)
  • Be sure to check your eclipse glasses for any scratches or holes.  You should not use any damaged glasses, it can damage your eyes!
  • Sunglasses won’t work.  They are not dark enough.
