Nervous System
Function: transmits electrical signals and stores information
All 5 senses are part of the nervous system (Sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing)
Major Organs:
Brain: The control center of the body.
Spinal Cord: Communication line. Connects nerves to the brain.
Major Tissues:
Nerves: Transmit signals from parts of the body to the brain and receive signals from the brain.
All information travels through the spinal cord to and from the brain.
All 5 senses are part of the nervous system.
Important Info:
The nervous and endocrine systems work together as the body's systems for control and communication. The nervous system sends out immediate and specific information as electrical impulses. The endocrine system send signals more slowly via hormones which control growth and metabolism.
