Function: Protection from damage and dehydration.
Continuously receives communication from the external environment, like temperature or humidity. It protects the body's deeper tissues. It excretes waste (sweat) and rids the body of heat and synthesizes Vitamin D.

Skin - keeps the body from overheating by sweating
Hair - Insulates our bodies
Sweat Glands - secretes waste called sweat
Oil Glands - moisten the skin and makes the hair more flexible.
Sensory receptors in the skin are touch and pain receptors.
