Excretory System
Function: Sometimes called the urinary system. It removes wastes products from the body. It filters waters and fluids, chemicals, vitamins, minerals, salts and wastes from the blood, while also collating waste in the form of liquid/urine (stored in the bladder) and solid/feces (stored in the large intestine/colon)
Major Organs
Kidneys - Filter the blood and remove metabolic waste. They regulate the amount of blood, water, salt and other minerals in your blood.
Bladder - Collects the liquid waste from the kidneys. The urine (pee) is stored in your bladder until it is released from the body.
Colon/Large Intestine -
Stores solid waste (feces). The colon also absorbs water and salt.
Other important info
Homeostasis - means to regulate or balance the body. Example: regulate the amount of salt and water in your blood.
